A GUIDE TO THE PICTURESQUE VILLAGE ON THE SOLWAY COAST
To stay at The Ship Hotel, Allonby is to follow in the footsteps of Charles Dickens and Wilkie Collins who they stayed here in 1857. Dickens described The Ship as "a capital little homely inn looking out upon the sea...a clean nice place in a rough wild country".
"A warm welcome assured!"

The spectacular Solway sunsets which have to be seen to be believed can be viewed from most of the hotel bedrooms, most of which are en suite and are traditionally furnished with real wood furniture. The hotel has two bars with real fires and retains much of its old world charm, including exposed beams. Well prepared home-cooked bar meals are available every lunchtime and evening throughout the summer. For opening times outside summer please click here. The Ship also offers real ales from the local brewery of West Newton Yates Brewery, the oldest independent brewery in Cumbria, as well as offering a good selection of beers and lagers, cider, wine and spirits.
Our bedrooms are cosy and relaxing and bed and breakfast prices start from £30.00 per person per night (standard room).
Children and well behaved dogs are very welcome and the bottom bar offers darts, pool and Sky Sports on large screen TV. Parking for hotel residents is also available.
The Ship now offers customers free wi-fi access.
